Dr. Carl F. Driscoll currently serves as a Professor at the University of Maryland Dental School and was the Director of the Prosthodontic Residency for 21 years. He also served in the same capacity at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for three years prior to being at Maryland. Dr. Driscoll retired from the U.S. Army after twenty years of service. Dr. Driscoll received many awards during his military service including the Legion of Merit, specialty “A” designator, Order of Military Merit, Expert Field Medical Badge, and was the first U.S. Army dentist to earn the German Sports Badge (Gold). He is one of the very few military dentists to be promoted to Colonel from Below the Zone. Dr. Driscoll is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) and the Academy of Prosthodontics. Dr. Driscoll has served as President of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics (AAFP), President of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and President of the ACP. He has been honored with many professional awards including the ACP’s Educator of the Year. Dr. Driscoll has given over 750 presentations nationally and internationally and has published extensively. He has co-authored two textbooks: Clinical Applications of Digital Dental Technology and Treating the Complete Denture Patient and will publish another later this year. He has been lauded for his informative and storytelling style. In addition to his teaching commitments, Dr. Driscoll is in private practice in Bethesda, MD.
