Overview
SICILY, AN ISLAND AT THE CROSSROADS OF ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS.
Rich in natural beauty, with rocky mountain ranges, olive groves, vineyards, beaches, and azure waters.
Sicily is a place where food, family and festivities flourish.
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean, located just off the “toe” of Italy’s “boot” with history rooted in sites such as the Valley of Temples and Byzantine mosaics. The earliest archaeological evidence of human activity on the island dates back to 12,000 BC.
The terrain of inland Sicily is mostly hilly. Along the northern coast, the mountain ranges are an extension of the mainland and the cone of Mount Etna dominates the eastern coast, the largest active volcano in Europe. Sicily has a typical Mediterranean climate with mild and wet winters, and hot dry summers.
Approximately five million people live in Sicily, making it the fourth most populated region in Italy and is the third largest wine producer in Italy.
Step back in time and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of this island paradise.
