Dr Benhamou received a B.Sc. and D.D.S. degree from McGill University. She obtained her specialty in periodontology and implant surgery in 1989 from the Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry in Boston. Dr Benhamou was the Director of the Division of Periodontics of McGill University dental School for over 15 years. She had remained as an associate Professor and has recently resumed her position at the University as Interim Director of the Division. She is involved in teaching at the general dental residency program of the Jewish General Hospital.
Dr Benhamou is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and Fellow and Speaker of the ITI and a member of numerous professional organizations. Dedicated to teaching and continuing education, she is very involved and has travelled extensively worldwide to share her expertise. She was the recipient of the W.W. Wood Award for “excellence in Dental Education” in 2005 and 2021, of the “Educator Award” from the AAP, the Howard Katz Award for “excellence in Teaching” and the ”Ralph Silverstone Teaching award”.
Dr Benhamou is a past president of the Quebec Periodontal Association, and past president and current Executive Director of the Federation of Dental Specialists in Quebec. Dr Benhamou’s private practice is located downtown Montreal and she has a particular interest in regenerative and implant surgery.
