Prosthodontic Reality Check: Why Are Implants Failing!?
Course Overview
Dr. Lipkin’s power point presentation will delve into the humbling and disappointing clinical reality – Implants are failing and the more implant treatments we provide for our patients, the more we will see both Peri-mucositis and Peri-implantitis affecting our treatment plans. Why are so many implants ailing and failing? Is it occlusion? Biofilm? Bacteria? Bruxism? The challenges we face in providing our patients with – hopefully – a lifetime of being able to masticate (healthy) food, free of pain and dysfunction, are enormous. This lecture will discuss what we have learned or should have learned in dental school, and that is to restore teeth – when it is reasonable – to their optimum state of health.
It is important to understand that even with all of the technology available to us, a treatment plan that takes into account age based realities, is the only way to provide our patients with a lifetime of rigid or alternatively a very stable dentition, whether it is just natural teeth, artificial, or some combination of the two. In other words, a treatment plan to restore a significantly broken-down dentition, perhaps many teeth or just one tooth, is different if the patient is 40, 50 or perhaps 60 years of age, as compared to a patient who is in their late 60’s, 70’s or beyond.
The primary focus of the lecture will be on occlusion, and the variables that affect how one develops an occlusal scheme for the dentate ( natural or artificial ) patient including a dentition that is restored with both fixed and removable prostheses. Restoring “cracked” teeth; endodontically treated teeth; implant assisted removable partial dentures ( an outstanding treatment but vastly underused ), and the most important element of all – diagnosis and treatment planning will be reviewed and discussed thoroughly. Interspersed within the body of lecture will be a discussion of how we can incorporate digital technology with conventional dentistry, understanding that at the end of the day, there is one immutable statement of fact – all of our patients are ‘analog’.
Educational Objectives
The course is designed to highlight in a meaningful way, a patient centered approach to providing at times complex treatments. An evidenced based approach citing studies and research will help pull together consistent methodology for the dental practitioner to follow.
Benefits of Attending
- Enjoy learning in a relaxed and interactive atmosphere
- All dental practitioners, whether GP or specialist, will be presented with content relevant to their particular practice
- Clinical treatments will be discussed in a format that will be easily transferrable to their practices.

Advanced Laser Protocols for Periodontics & Implant Longevity
A 4-Hour Clinical Integration Course for Modern Surgical Practices
Course Overview
As periodontal and implant therapy evolves, clinicians must move beyond traditional mechanical approaches and integrate biologically driven protocols that improve healing, reduce complications, and protect long-term outcomes.
This 4-hour advanced CE program delivers a practical framework for:
- Understanding laser-tissue interaction
- Comparing regenerative protocols
- Managing peri-implant disease predictably
- Building prevention systems that protect implants for life
Designed for periodontists, implant surgeons, and progressive GP surgeons who want both clinical precision and long-term practice growth.
Learning Outcomes
By completion, attendees will:
- Understand how wavelength selection impacts tissue interaction.
- Compare traditional vs laser regenerative protocols.
- Diagnose and treat peri-implant disease more predictably.
- Implement long-term maintenance systems that protect implant investments.
- Increase clinical outcomes and patient acceptance.
